DEPARTMENT Communications and MarketingSUPERVISOR AVP of Editorial Strategy & Programming
*BASIC FUNCTION: *Write clever, persuasive, compelling copy for the association’s internal clients, especially its public affairs team. Elevate copy currently used in TMA’s digital, website, legislative briefs, membership marketing, and advocacy outreach efforts, and produce new creative advocacy outreach materials that get results.

Write and edit compelling content across a variety of platforms and digital and print mediums (e.g., news articles, email, social media, web, advocacy / marketing campaigns, scripts) that convey TMA’s advocacy goals to physician and legislative audiences
Work closely with the editorial and advocacy teams to brainstorm ideas, create fresh and creative copy, and develop messaging pertaining to TMA’s advocacy goals
Conduct research and interviews with physician members, TMA staff, and other sources to develop a thorough understanding of complex legislative topics and convey them in clear, concise, persuasive copy
Stay updated on appropriate style guidelines and brand voice for consistency in messaging
Oversee and manage advocacy outreach materials through editorial, marketing, graphic design, and the printing process.
Manage TMA’s digital advocacy efforts writing and distributing action alerts as needed.
Work with internal clients across the association to elevate digital copy.
Attend/participate in TMA annual meeting/Fall and Winter Conferences.
Attend trainings and workshops to improve professional skills.
Perform other related duties as directed or required.

Employee should work closely with editors to develop and edit content for TMA’s publications and advocacy outreach efforts
Knowledge and Experience:
Requires concentrated understanding of a comprehensive field of knowledge. Knowledge required is a bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, creative writing, communications or related discipline and several years (i.e., 3-5 years) professional experience in journalism, communications, health care advocacy.
Skills and Abilities:

Must have exceptional writing and research skills.
Comfortable working in a fast-paced, team- and deadline-driven environment with quick turnarounds.
Excellent organizational skill and multitasking ability.
Strong editing and proofreading experience, familiarity with AP style.
Experience working with content management systems a plus.
A keen eye for detail and appreciation of great design.
Social media or content marketing experience a plus.
