Full Job Description :-
Kids Can is seeking a dynamic leader interested in making a difference in the lives of students by educating, engaging and inspiring children each day in our out-of-school programs.
Kids Can currently has openings at Minne Lusa and Miller Park Elementary Schools.
The Site Director is responsible for the design, implementation, coordination, and administration of all components of the afterschool program. This position is responsible for planning and developing creative learning environments, enrichment opportunities, recreational activities, social and emotional learning, and field trips. Additionally, the Site Director is responsible for program leadership, staff development and the collection and protection of program data, reporting and compliance.
Demonstrating the ability to work with diverse populations at all levels including students, staff, community partners and volunteers while creating a welcoming environment is essential.
Job Duties:
Program Design and Implementation:

Ability to create engaging, developmentally appropriate activities in a wide variety of areas including STEM, academics, enrichment, recreation, social-emotional learning, and character development.
Design a site schedule/calendar that includes a variety of education, enrichment and recreational activities that align with Kids Can’s mission.
Works collaboratively with community partners and providers to identify and implement programming that reinforces program objectives.

Staff Development:

Supervise, train, mentor, coach and manage all staff and volunteers in the program.
Participate in recruiting, hiring, training and supervision of program staff.
Facilitate staff training and staff meetings to ensure quality programming and coordination.

Assessment and Program Quality:

Administer all evaluation including student, parent, and community partner surveys and assessments meeting return rate goals.
Analyze various data to make program adjustments and improvements.


Communicate effectively and in a professional manner with all stakeholders including students, parents, school administrators and staff, Kids Can administration, and community partners.
Develop positive relationships and presence within the school and proactively participate on school leadership teams.

Administration and Oversight:

Responsible for providing a physically and emotionally safe space.
Enroll students in accordance with Kids Can and OPS regulation, maintain all necessary attendance and student records.
Understand and monitor program compliance for state licensing rules, regulations, and policies.
Monitor and support families in the enrollment of Child Care Subsidies and adhere to Child Care Subsidy regulations.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Ability to plan and prioritize multiple projects while being adaptable in a constantly changing environment.
Knowledge and understanding of positive youth development principles.
Strong computer skills, must have the ability to track data and produce reports
Ability to problem solve and quickly adapt when needed.
Excellent communication skills: work effectively as a team (communicate with others, resolve conflicts, and offer solutions to problems).
Ability to interact and communicate effectively with participants of diverse backgrounds.
Experience leading a group of youth in a classroom, after school or recreation environment.

Education/Experience Prerequisites:

BA/BS Preferred and 2-3 years’ experience in developing and implementing youth academic and enrichment programs
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation is required. Hiring is contingent upon approval from the Nebraska Central Registry of Child Abuse and Neglect, Nebraska Adult Protective Services Registry, Kids Can’s vehicle insurance company and submission of a felony/misdemeanor statement.

Ongoing/In-Service Requirements

Maintain certification in CPR and First Aid and additional requirements as needed.
Obtain a minimum adequate annual training to maintain high quality leadership. Training must include, but is not limited to: safe environments, healthy environments, learning environments, physical development, cognitive learning, communication, creative learning, self-esteem, social development, guidance, family relationships, program management, and professionalism.

Physical & Mental Requirements:

Must be able to walk the building (including staircases) and assist children in and out of vans.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 20 lbs.
Must be able to handle the physical demands of caring for children.
Must be prepared to handle accidents and emergencies at any time.

Working Conditions
Normal working conditions; work primarily in office, program rooms, gymnasium, kitchen, playground area and field as well as off-site meetings.
