ACSD is seeking an Anticipated Teaching and Learning Coordinator for PK-12 for the 2022-2023 school year.

MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Ames Community School District is to ensure that all learners develop the knowledge, skills, attitudes, values, and personal esteem necessary to grow in and shape a changing society.

PURPOSE
Under the direction of the Director of Teaching and Learning, the Teaching and Learning Coordinator will support the district in the area of curriculum, instruction, and assessment. The Coordinator’s work promotes the highest level of student achievement, performance, and equity for all students by providing innovative leadership in the development, articulation, implementation and coordination of research-based teaching and learning processes. This position consults with and supports administrators and staff regarding the design of professional learning plans, establishing learning objectives, develops training materials, coaches leaders and teachers, and assesses the impact of professional learning through a critical consciousness lens.
RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Curriculum:
Supports the design, implementation, and monitoring of the district Multi-Tiered System of Support.
Works collaboratively with principals, coaches and district level personnel to support the implementation of all levels of the curriculum review process.
Works with teachers in analyzing problem areas in curriculum and instruction helping to find and implement appropriate solutions.
Introduces PK-12 teachers to methods and materials that increase student achievement.
Helps to develop successful integration (curriculum, pedagogy delivery, parent involvement, student voice, and critical examination of institutional racism) that leads to educational equity and student achievement.
Remains up-to-date with state and district educational developments and research on a regional and national level.
Coordinates and manages professional learning opportunities with company reps and trainers as well as state/federal level educational consultants.
Coordinates and reviews the purchasing of curricular materials and resources.
Instruction:
Demonstrates understanding of the characteristics of effective instruction.
Assists with implementation of research-based instructional practices in all classrooms.
Works with educators in the application of instructional strategies that lead to educational equity and student achievement.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning and other Directors to identify district improvement priorities in the area of instruction.
Introduces PK-12 teachers to evidence-based instructional strategies that increase student achievement.
Assessment
Works with the Director to establish progress monitoring procedures that are consistent and meaningful to the curriculum review process.
Creates and uses monitoring systems when implementing new practice.
Oversees and supports training, administration, and instructional use of assessments in grades PK-12.
Ensures that student learning needs shape the comprehensive educational programs and data teams.
Ensures that assessment data related to student progress toward college, career and citizenship readiness are used to develop district, building and data team goals.
Supports administrators, instructional leadership teams and staff in collecting, interpreting, and analyzing data, student demographics, and other data related to school and student improvement to identify trends and gaps in current programming and prioritize needs, resource utilization and strategies to improve student achievement.
Professional Development
Works with building teams designated to analyze school data to support action plans that ensure educational equity for all students.
Designs and supports professional development in the areas of curriculum, instruction and assessment.
Works collaboratively with the Director of Teaching and Learning and other Directors to identify district improvement priorities in the area of instruction.
Coordinates professional learning opportunities for ACSD staff to ensure fidelity of materials and strategies with students.
Provides support and services to schools, departments and programs on quality improvement, planning and evaluation tools and activities relative to the instructional program resulting in equitable learning opportunities for all students.
Professionalism:
Recognizes and celebrates accomplishments of staff and students.
Meets regularly with Director of Teaching and Learning.
Provides clear and consistent communication to support positive and proactive community relationships.
Exhibits educational equity and improvement.
Seeks feedback, ideas, and suggestions to improve learning.
Ensures compliance with state regulations.
Attends work on a consistent and punctual basis.
Performs other duties, as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s Degree
1 full-year teaching experience in the Ames Community School District (non-probationary)
Three years of successful teaching experience
Previous leadership experience
