The Assistant Director will serve as an operations and administrative lead and key college liaison for the Opportunity Youth Initiative (OYI) project, in addition to helping to formulate strategic project direction and, as with all OYI staff, mentoring a portfolio of OYI students.
Project administration components will include OYI data collection, student financial aid navigation, budgetary tracking, mobilization of key contract services such as tutoring and differential learning, and distribution and tracking of course materials and equipment.
The Assistant Director will serve as a key voice in contributing to overall project strategy formation and implementation related to student recruitment, the student admissions and orientation process, wraparound service partnership creation and leveraging of internal Delgado relationships.
The Assistant Director will also form relationships with and mentor a portfolio of Opportunity Youth ages 16-24, mobilizing wraparound service partnerships as needed, to promote degree or certificate attainment and successful career placement.
Ideal background will include familiarity with government and non-profit programs to serve Opportunity Youth, college admissions, federal financial aid, academic programs, the community college setting and other areas related to post-secondary education.
Duties and Responsibilities:
40% – Serving in an administrative and operational leadership role, the Assistant Director is responsible for equipment procurement, inventory compliance, budget tracking, data collection and management, and managing certain vendors including tutors, consultants, and content experts. Will distribute all equipment and materials. Will serve as reporting lead and will maintain all databases and dashboards for the OYI program.
20% – Partner with Director of OYI Initiative to drive project strategy related to internal Delgado student admissions, financial aid process, and program/campus orientation. The Assistant Director will guide students through the admissions process, financial aid process, academic advising, and course and program selection.
40% – Serve as a Student Mentor along with all other OYI team members, mentoring a portfolio of OYI students, helping to advise and guide on admissions, course selection, financial aid, career related decision making and mobilizing wraparound services to resolve life issues, as needed.
Required Education: Bachelor’s degree from an institution accredited by an authorized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Required Experience: 5 years work experience in an education setting or with a community-focused non-profit. Proactive, able to work well both independently and in teams and to complete tasks with little to no supervision.
Required Licenses or Certifications: N/A
Preferred Education: Master’s degree in social work, public health, counseling, business, education administration or other field directly related to this role from an institution accredited by an authorized accrediting agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
Preferred Experience: 7 years work experience in program administration or case management, working with the Opportunity Youth demographic, aged 16-24 years. Previous experience in grant management, case management, academic advising, career counseling or other aspect of higher education.Previous experience working with project operations and administration within a higher education, non-profit or governmental setting.
Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Pay: $52,000.00 – $62,488.70 per year
