Job Summary

The Assistant Director of Campus Life and Housing is a live-in member of the Campus Life and Housing professional staff and is responsible for providing leadership to Residential Life, Title IX/Student Conduct, and programming on campus. This position supervises Resident Assistants and additional student workers in the department. The Assistant Director works collaboratively with all campus departments and is responsible for establishing and assessing student learning outcomes, policy and procedures, and determining Campus Life and Housing priorities.

Supplemental Functions:

Advise and refer individual students on a wide range of academic, personal and disciplinary matters, referring to various on or off-campus resources as appropriate
Prepare a comprehensive onboarding and training programming for student leaders
Participate in relevant committee assignments as requested by the Director of Student Affairs
Assist with publications, MyNWCCD pages and web page
Remain competent and current through professional development including self-directed reading and networking with colleagues

Supervisory and Management Responsibility:

Supervise Resident Assistants (3-5)
Supervise Fitness Center student workers (5-7)
Oversee part time, non benefited positions
Assist with oversight of Office Assistants (3-5)

Reports To

Director of Student Affairs, GC


Required – Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, Preferred – Master’s degree in Student Personnel or closely related field
Live-in residence life work experience

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office
Working knowledge of The Housing Director software and THD mobile-preferred
Must be organized and able to multitask
Must be willing to work in a team environment and maintain a positive and upbeat attitude
Demonstrated ability to work with a diverse group of college students and personnel
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing
Ability to work with students, both individually and in groups

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements

Must be an energetic, innovated individual who is self-disciplined, detail oriented, able to work late hours and Weekends, as well as relates well to college students.
Typical work week will include some evening hours. Weekends will include Student Programming which can include Weekly on call rotation will be required as well as holiday coverage late nights.
Must be able to climb stairs, interact with a wide variety of people, set up intramural equipment.

Job Duties
These are the job duties for required of the position.

Percentage of time



Campus Life and Housing

Coordinate and oversee all administrative, housing processes and software
Provide supervision to Resident Assistants and other student workers working in Campus Life
Respond during emergency or crisis situations in residence halls and participate in on call/emergency evaluations including some evenings and weekends.
Coordinate all aspects of camps, conferences and guests staying on campus.
Participate in evening and weekend duty coverage on a rotational basis with other designated professional staff. Participate in CARE (Campus Assessment, Response, Evaluation) Team.
Facilitate an annual training program for Resident Assistants, Office Assistants, and other student leaders

Percentage of time



Conduct/Title IX

Facilitate educational and developmental administrative hearings and adjudication for students going through Student Code of Conduct Process.
Conduct Title IX Investigations and write corresponding reports and/or act in the capacity of Advisor, Investigator, Conduct Hearing Officer, or Hearing Board Member in Title IX cases as needed
Familiarize and remain current with training and guidance pertaining to the Student Code of Conduct, Title IX, VAWA, and Drug Free Schools and Communities Act
Develop on-going reports and provide data related to Student Conduct
Assist in the development of strategic, on-going program initiatives and trainings for students, faculty and staff pertaining to Title IX and Student Conduct

Provide supervision to part time staff and student workers coordinating intramural activities and campus life activities
Co-advises Student Senate at Gillette College
