Dept Number/Name: 0-0510-000 / Intercollegiate Athletics College Division: Exec Svcs-Intercol Athletics Salary Plan: Administrative Job Code/Title: 9561 / Asst Director of Development Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $50,000-$60,000 Position Number: 00007069 ORGANIZATIONAL SUMMARY: The USF Department of Intercollegiate Athletics is an integral part of USF and its mission by sponsoring a diverse and nationally competitive Division I athletic program. The program serves several significant constituencies, including its student-athletes, who are students first. The most important priority of the program is the progress of the student-athletes toward graduation. Other priorities include the health, fitness and emotional development of student-athletes at USF. Intercollegiate Athletics provide a sense of collegiality, allegiance, and pride for students, staff, faculty, alumni, boosters and the greater Tampa Bay community at large and serves as a focal point for their support. Within the framework of competitive excellence, Intercollegiate Athletics at USF are also a contact vehicle leading supporters to a greater awareness of the University’s mission, academic programs and prominence as an educational institution. POSITION SUMMARY: Reporting to the Deputy Athletic Director of Development, this position builds relationships with the university’s various constituents with a focus on Football Alumni. Identifies, cultivates, and solicits prospects and closes private, major gifts on behalf of the University to advance the Athletic department’s mission and goals. The focus of the position will be on the identification and solicitation of key prospects for acquisition of donors and upgrades of existing donors, with a specific emphasis on football alumni to grow the Varsity Club. Works athletic events, hospitality, athletic competitions and community functions representing USF Athletics. This position is responsible for coordinating major gift activity and directing stewardship programs for intercollegiate athletics. Adheres to all NCAA, Conference, and institutional rules and regulations. RESPONSIBILITIES: Identifies, cultivates and solicits prospects for annual and major gifts to support USF Athletics. Manges a continually growing prospect portfolio. Advances USF Athletics by securing major gifts for the capital campaign and assist in the development and implementation of future campaigns. Leads the organization, coordination, and execution of the Bulls Club capital project fundraising for initiatives such as the on-campus stadium. Fosters relationships with all alumni with a specific emphasis on football alumni to grow the Varsity Club. Develops campaigns and/or presentation proposals related to funding priorities in order to keep top prospects informed, interested, and involved and to meet development goals and objectives. Identifies potential prospects for cultivations through research, initial contact ratings, peer reviews and other relevant resources. Builds relationships with key individuals, corporations, and foundations for development purposes. Plans, organizes, and implements fund-raising activities. Assists in the identification and enhancement of fundraising techniques designed to build and cultivate relationships among individuals, corporations, and foundations. Ensures that donors receive proper recognition and stewardship. Works athletic department events, hospitality and community functions representing USF. Oversees and manages the annual Football Golf Tournament and the Football Fantasy Camp. Assists with the planning and execution of the Bulls Fest, Bulls Blast, and Coaches’ Caravan. Attends USF sporting events and other Bulls Club events and outings to engage with prospective donors. Facilitates tours of athletic facilities and practices. Solicits gifts through person-to-person visits, group presentations, and/or phone contacts. Travel will be required to cultivate and solicit donors, and to accomplish goals. Leads Bulls Club-related communications with Football Alumni and fans. Establishes relationships with community leaders. Provides guidance to community leaders and donors on Name, Image and Likeness and INFLCR. Serves as a resource and mentor for current and former student-athletes. Participates in public relations activities on behalf of the department when requested, including public speaking and cultivating relationships with businesses and administrators. Collaborates with USF Foundation annual giving team and the alumni office on prospect engagement specific to athletics and the Football program. Performs other duties as assigned. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS: MINIMUM: This position requires a Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience related to development or other appropriate professional experience. PREFERRED: Previous experience related to a professional or intercollegiate athletics Football program strongly preferred.
