Position Summary:

The Associate Director, Global Program Management will be responsible for scoping, planning and executing large, cross-functional business programs and projects within the Global Program Office, as prioritized by the Executive Leadership Team. The nature and scope can vary widely but generally will focus on business scalability planning and execution, business process improvements, commercial and business infrastructure expansion, supporting the integration of acquired entities / partnerships, technology initiatives driven by new or changing business models and other enterprise-level changes that span many major functions and require central orchestration.


Partners with stakeholders to define, prioritize, plan and execute transformation initiatives that are consistent with corporate business strategies and goals
Facilitates the creation and approval of project business cases
Creates and manages program / projects scope, schedule, resource plans and budgets
Aligns goals, plans, dependencies and resources across the contributing or affected functional or regional teams to ensure attainment of milestones
Drives cohesive end-to-end planning, design and execution of changes to accelerate adoption while minimizing adverse impact to business operations
Enforces project lifecycle process and gate reviews
Maintains score cards and metrics to report performance against plans and goals and to highlight risks, issues and action plans
Oversees small to large/global teams of dedicated and matrixed resources, which may be internal or external to Illumina
Supports stakeholder engagement, communication and organizational change management to achieve business readiness and sustainability of delivered solutions
Adopts and assists with the development of a portfolio management and project execution framework to consistently deliver positive transformation efforts


12+ years of professional experience in program & project management, business scalability planning, business transformation, market expansion, process improvement, change management, system implementation, governance, risk management, financial management and/or corporate operations
10+ years in cross-functional roles within a global enterprise
Advanced analytical and presentation skills
Experience building financial business cases and delivering large, complex global projects with strict deadlines and solution sustainability
Ability to engage and influence effectively at all levels and within a matrixed environment of both internal and external resources
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a diverse set of peers and stakeholders across organizational levels, functions and geographies/cultures
Must be driven, self-motivated, well organized and able to thrive under ambiguity
Experience in clinical / IVD development programs desirable
