Job Summary

Under limited supervision, the associate product manager supports the function of product managers by conducting, coordinating and curating market research, advisor (field) enablement/supporting resources and activities, and operational support activities. The associate product manager may also work on new products, existing established products, features, enhancements and various product strategies to support more senior product managers. This role has an emphasis on supporting advisor enablement to grow adoption, usage, best practices, and improve user experience of various advisor-marketing solutions that the Advisor Marketing Product Management group provides the business. Regular contact with internal customers, teams/functional groups, external vendor partners and external information sources is required to obtain, clarify, or provide facts or information.

This specific associate product manager position supports a variety of digital marketing and content distribution platforms and solutions in areas including but not limited to social media, email marketing and digital advertising.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Act as a “voice and messenger of the advisors” source to more senior product managers
Collaborate with other stakeholders such as product marketing on the creation of positioning products supported
Identify, monitor, prepare and disseminate advisor enablement resources and activities to encourage product adoption and use including but not limited to training webinars and best-practice and how-to guides/videos for internal partners (i.e. marketing consultants) and end-users (i.e. financial advisors, branch professionals)
Helps coordinate development, project management and rollout of new enhancements and products

Develops product oriented positioning documents, product profiles, competitive analysis and other content for web sites, marketing materials, seminars and other marketing products.

Gathers, analyzes, interprets and distributes information on product demand and marketing strategies for assigned products.

Collects and analyzes information pertaining to the usage of assigned products, analyzes and evaluates ideas and suggestions and identifies best practices to be shared with others.

Prepares and analyzes utilization and other reports for assigned products.

Identifies, monitors, prepares and disseminates information on products, awareness strategies, capabilities, vulnerabilities and intentions of existing and potential competitors.

Analyzes sales factors, including pricing, distribution and product performance and provides statistical reports and recommendations for changes in sales strategies.

Supports marketing programs and assists others in developing a clear, compelling and differentiated message and position for assigned products.

Conducts product mix research and assists in making recommendations selecting optimal product mix profiles.

Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of

Marketing technology savvy and passionate about building solution-oriented products
Marketing/marketing platforms in areas such as social media, email marketing, and/or content marketing
Financial services

Product management

Principles, methods and techniques used in conducting product research and analysis.

Client and vendor engagement best practices

Skill in

Marketing consulting, project management and/or field engagement and enablement

Business writing, including drafting, editing and proofreading internal and external communications

Product analysis concepts, practices and procedures.

Designing and developing survey questionnaires and other feedback mechanisms and compiling survey feedback.

Preparing technical reports, correspondence and presentations.

Synthesizing and summarizing data research findings and data from conventional library, databases, reports and internet resources to draw logical conclusions and report results.

Identifying trends and patterns in statistical information.

Researching, manipulating and compiling data.

Interpreting and applying practical meaning to research results and presenting the information at an appropriate level to broad audiences.

Identifying and selecting sources of competitive intelligence information and conducting competitive intelligence studies

Conducting product research projects using accepted sampling methodologies and data collection procedures.

Operating standard office equipment and using required software applications to produce documents such as reports, graphics, electronic communication, spreadsheets, and databases.

Ability to

Organize, manage and track multiple detailed tasks and assignments with frequently changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment.

Employ critical thinking and analysis to develop strategies to overcome client objections.

Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing to internal and external stakeholders.

Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others at all organizational levels.

Provide a high level of customer service.

Education/Previous Experience

Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year College or university
Minimum of two (2) years of professional experience required

Product or marketing experience in the financial services industry preferred.

Any equivalent combination of experience, education, and/or training approved by Human Resources and Hiring Manager
