Reports to Chief Operating Officer
The Brand/Marketing Specialist will utilize their expertise to create a best-in-class digital experience, strengthening American Partners brand in the digital environment. The Brand/Marketing Specialist will help provide direction and oversight for marketing campaigns and projects that support the Credit Union’s business plan and vision while contributing to the planning and execution of strategic initiatives across the organization.
This position is responsible for the development of marketing plans, project management of campaigns from the initial collaboration, creative development and implementation. The Brand/Marketing Specialist coordinates the efforts of others who may assist with projects, which may include co-workers and outside vendors.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Provides strategic direction and oversight for marketing campaigns, directing efforts across various media communications channels (digital, social and newspaper). This includes creating community awareness, financial literacy education, branding and advocacy.
Responsibilities include product development, and the planning and execution of the overall marketing efforts and projects, which includes the creative development, and implementation while adhering to compliance regulations (CAN-SPAM, Federal and State Regulations). May include printed promotional materials, statement messaging or inserts, advertisements, online marketing, web pages, social media, creating videos, etc.
Responsible for writing assigned marketing plans and communication pieces, and developing schedules and calendars as needed and assigned, which include all appropriate mediums.
Responsible for developing schedules and calendars for the Credit Union and its markets, and manages the campaign/project development for a timely completion within specified deadlines.
Works cross-functionally to help ensure that marketing campaigns align with business objectives.
Writes and plans strategic media placements which may include print, newspaper, radio, TV and online marketing as needed and assigned.
Develops and produces buck slips, fliers, handouts, etc.
Develops educational material (digital and print) to educate members and potential members.
Monitors the Credit Union’s brand image in all internal and external communications vehicles to ensure consistency with our brand image.
Consistently tracks and evaluates marketing efforts to ensure that campaigns, strategies and tactics are aligned with the Credit Union’s initiatives and member needs.
Assists in the direction of creative efforts of the internal and external partners to ensure consistency with our brand image.
Plans and executes annual events (i.e., Holiday Chari-Tree Auction, Member Appreciation Days, Shred Day).
Plans, prepares and delivers presentations.
Represents American Partners during public-facing events and initiatives.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
Serves on various committees to provide marketing advice and/or give input as needed.
Provides periodic reports to the Board of Directors.
Assists with other tasks and projects as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Must have sound understanding of standard concepts, practices, procedures, regulations and compliance within the Marketing, Communications, and Public Relations environment.
An understanding of digital marketing tools and tactics.
Must have excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
Must have strong proofreading, copywriting, copy editing, and grammar skills.
Must have strong project management, research and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to manage projects from inception to completion.
Must have advanced skills in MS Office, including Excel and Word.
Must be able to work in a team environment, with strong collaborative skills.
Must have superior interpersonal skills; ability to get along with diverse personalities; tactful, mature, flexible, compassionate.
Must have ability to understand all business processes within the Credit Union.
Must be detail oriented and well organized, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to complete all assignments with minimal supervision.
Must be flexible and able to shift resources and priorities as required.
Should possess a strong commitment to providing excellent service to American Partners’ members.
Must be able to sit at a desk for long periods of time and use a computer in an office setting with moderate noise.
Must have the ability to travel to various worksites and attend public facing events.
Must be able to moderately lift or move up to 25 pounds.
Education and Background
High School Diploma or equivalent experience. BA/BS is a plus but is not required.
5+ years related experience in Marketing Communications, Business, or related field required.
Relevant work experience with a background in marketing, e-commerce, and mobile development or design is desired.
Previous experience in Financial Services preferred.
