The City Dispatch Supervisor will manage all the activities of the city drivers. Utilize available resources to transport shipments in the safest and most cost effective manner to meet or exceed customer expectations and achieve company goals.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Communicate company safety program and enforce safety rules and compliance with all government regulations. Maintain a safe work environment at all times. Follows all YRCF Safety protocols in the event of an accident or injury.
Develop daily delivery plan utilizing equipment, manpower, and other resources to ensure an effective / efficient operation and meet customer expectations.
Supervises all activities of drivers responsible for pick-up and delivery of freight at customer locations.
Manage work assignments, monitor performance and provide training on job duties, company policies and procedures.
Speak to employee groups and conduct effective pre-shift meetings.
Ensure proper work methods are utilized at all times.
Communicate clear performance expectations to ensure high-performance work environment and proactively provide specific, balanced and timely coaching/feedback to reinforce and encourage high performance and promote a culture of teamwork.
Complete necessary paperwork/data entry accurately and in a timely manner to ensure an efficient and steady flow of information.
Maintain knowledge of applicable Collective Bargaining Agreements.
Regularly communicates with customers for delivery and pick-up needs.
Ability to coordinate with Dock & Yard Operations, as well as clerical personnel, to properly service customer shipments in a timely fashion.

High School graduate or equivalent.

Bachelor’s degree in transportation, business or related area.
Knowledge of local applicable collective bargaining agreements.
Proven knowledge of computer applications (MS office).
Knowledge of company policy, procedures and applicable collective bargaining agreements.
This job operates in a professional office environment indoors. Routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and fax machines.
The position requires the ability to spend long hours standing while using office equipment and computers. Occasionally sit. Ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and keying. Continually speaking and hearing, giving and receiving directions. Occasional lifting, pushing/pulling, carrying 10 lbs of supplies and materials is required.
