Location: Seattle, Washington
Hourly Position (25-30 hours per week, $28-$33 per hour)
Refugee Artisan Initiative is a nonprofit organization that partners with refugee and immigrant women to foster an inclusive, prosperous transition to the United States through artisan skills training and microbusiness development.
Founded in 2017, Refugee Artisan Initiative (RAI) has envisioned creating a welcoming global community that values and invests in refugee and immigrant women as they achieve healthy, stable, and fulfilling lives in the Pacific Northwest and beyond.
The Communications Associate is responsible for implementing RAI’s communications strategy, building awareness for RAI’s mission with multiple constituent groups, and ensuring our messaging aligns with RAI’s mission, vision, and values. The Communications Associate is a gifted storyteller with exemplary writing skills. This individual will engage RAI’s online community, collaborate with RAI Artisans to tell their stories, and support RAI’s efforts to advocate on behalf of immigrant women, children and families.
The ideal candidate is a highly motivated, organized, and strategic thinker who wants to build and grow RAI’s awareness, advocacy, fundraising, outreach, and product marketing. The Communications Associate reports directly to the Development Director and works closely with the entire team.
Communication and Marketing: Execute all communication efforts for RAI, ensuring that all communications and marketing collateral aligns with RAI’s mission, values, and brand.

Produce organization-wide materials.
Serve as writer and in-house editor to ensure quality control and consistent messaging.
Collaborate with team members to ensure integrated, strategic marketing and fundraising campaigns.
Build visibility of RAI partners and products.
Manage video and photo production related to RAI’s initiatives, artisans, and products. Manage CRM and product sales outreach.
Website, Social Media and Online Presence: Maintain organization’s website and social media accounts.
Manage and develop content and implement improvements to website usability and performance.
Develop and implement social media strategy and monthly calendar for all social media outlets.
Monitor and manage online presence – i.e., platforms, website, posts.
Write and post newsletters, and manage newsletter accounts.


2+ years in nonprofit communications, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Familiar with basic graphic design software, such as Canva, and social media platforms.
Search Engine Optimization is a plus.
Email marketing software (e.g., MailChimp).
Excellent writing/editing and verbal communication skills.
Strong project management skills, while remaining flexible.
Demonstrated commitment to inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.
Flexible, Self-starter, able to work independently.

Work in both office and remote settings. The RAI team is small and mighty, supporting a predominately volunteer-led service organization. The work environment’s noise level varies depending on project production, meetings, and points of service in the community.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $28.00 – $33.00 per hour

Monday to Friday

COVID-19 considerations:RAI is currently operating at limited in-person capacity.Employees must wear masks while working indoors and must provide proof of full vaccination.
