About the role:
The Content Writer will be responsible for crafting compelling content that informs, engages and persuades key audiences. The ideal candidate understands the fundamentals of B2B content strategy and will collaborate with a team of internal stakeholders to produce targeted, action-oriented copy that achieves team and overarching business goals. This role requires a detail-oriented wordsmith who excels at identifying creative and innovative ways to connect with audiences at each stage of the buyer journey.
Handles the ideation and creation of meticulous long- and short-form content for marketing across paid, owned, and earned channels, including white papers, case studies, technical blog posts, website / product copy, landing pages, external articles, emails, infographics, one-pagers, presentations, video scripts, and product/service descriptions
Writes copy that stands out in a crowded industry, that engages the various target audiences, driving action including click-throughs and qualified leads
Independently creates content pieces based on briefs, personas, an understanding of the marketing funnel & buyer journey, and other background material
Works closely with the senior leadership team, crafting thought-leadership content that fits each of their individual tone and expertise
Revises and optimizes dated content using information gathered from SEO research
Becomes an industry expert who can provide high-level technical content on intricate freight topics
Collaborate with a team of managers and creative staff from concept development to final product
Maintains a consistent brand voice across all mediums
Mentors junior copywriter (and intern), providing guidance, as well as proofing and editing support
Performs detailed research, including conducting interviews with subject-matter experts and via approved, industry-leading sources
Ensures that all Flock Freight content meets the quality expectations of a company of our size and reputation, with limited rounds of revisions or supervision needed
Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism or related focus
5+ years of content marketing or copywriting experience
Ability to distill complex topics into easily digestible copy
Clear understanding of content strategy and B2B writing fundamentals
Adept at managing multiple projects in a deadline-driven environment with limited internal reviews
Ability to effectively elicit feedback from key stakeholders and quickly integrate it into content projects
Experience writing SEO-optimized content is preferred
Freight and tech experience a plus
Excellent editing and proofreading skills with strong attention to detail
Proficient in AP Style
Ability to self-assess and continually improve upon writing and research skills
Resourceful, with a desire to find answers before asking someone
Having a keen interest in organizational goals and targets
At least three (3) writing samples and/or portfolio to demonstrate experience
Completion of a writing testing to demonstrate capabilities
