PURPOSE

The Program Coordinator is responsible for planning, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating the district’s Adult English Language Learning Program, in accordance with budgeting and program guidelines.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

Teach English instruction to at least one class

Manage and run orientation and testing for new student registration

Interview, recommend for hire, and supervise the AELLP Secretary, Instructors, and substitute teachers

Oversee program volunteers and substitutes

Regularly monitor the program to ensure grant compliance

Secure program space in appropriate locations

Manage the AELLP budget and expense reports

Encourage appropriate professional development for staff

Analyze data and evaluating programs and staff

Ensure access to effective curriculum and technology resources

Prepare grant applications

Maintain current community partnerships related to the AELLP

Seek out additional community resources

Maintain required certification for themselves and Teachers/staff

Organize onsite professional development courses

Ensure all required post-test data and student hours are entered into LACES (Literacy, Adult and Community Education System)

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To: Director of CACC

Supervises: Adult ELL Instructors

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum: Eligible for Missouri Adult Education and Literacy Certificate of License to Teach

Preferred: Program management experience; Grant-writing experience.

The ideal candidate will have a professional and friendly demeanor with a demonstrated ability to work well with a variety of individuals in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, an employee is regularly required to move about, talk, and hear; Close vision ability to look at a computer screen for long periods of time is required. These are essential functions of the job.

Attendance: Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position.

Conditions and Environment: The work environment is consistent with a typical office environment; at times, many staff members may be present and speaking simultaneously. These are essential functions of the job.
