Purpose of Position
The primary focus of the Courseware Learning Designer is to design and develop instructional products and experiences both in the physical and digital environment. They help determine the state and needs of the learner, define the end goal of instruction and create best practices to ensure consistency of developed materials. Additionally, this role will be integral in transitioning both products and teams into new learning methodologies and development practices.
Tasks and Responsibilities
Express a tireless pursuit of better practices, better methods, and efficiencies.
Identify target audience training needs
Establish clear instructional goals and storyboard content and experiences which align
Lead design exercises and activities that enhance the learning process
Partner to create engaging learning activities and a framework for ensuring compelling course content
Create both physical and digital instructional material (audio, video, simulations, role plays, games, etc.)
Devise methods of assessment to ensure the effectiveness of the training through evidence-based strategies
Author and design practices and techniques to be followed enterprise wide as it applies to the strategy and techniques used to provide training.
Facilitate workshops and provide ongoing support for enterprise wide instructional design and development practices
Maintain project documentation
Travel of 20%+ is required for the position
Minimum Education
Bachelor’s degree required, Masters preferred, however 10+ years in an instructional design position can be substituted for the degree requirement.
Minimum Experience
Minimum of 6 years’ experience with design in a learning environment
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Prior experience in Learning & Development.
Experience in delivering training is a strong plus.
Proven ability to collaborate across a broad spectrum of key stakeholders.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
In-depth knowledge of learning theories and instructional design.
Lesson and curriculum planning skills.
Proficient in Adobe Creative Cloud Suite.
Basic HTML, Markup, and WordPress experience.
Experience with forms of Immersive Media
Experience with xAPI and SCORM
Knowledgeable in existing and emergent eLearning authoring tools.
Visual design skills.
Experience with video production.
Ability to write effective copy, instructional text, audio and video scripts.
Excellent organizational skills, time management and attention to detail.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Ability to interact with various levels of management in a professional manner.
Ability to remain calm and adapt to changes rapidly and perform in a fast-paced work environment.
Results-oriented with high drive to achieve objectives and standards with little supervision or guidance.
Fluency in English, through both verbal and written communications; able to speak, understand, read and write
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
