JOB DESCRIPTION FOR THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF
LOWCOUNTRY ORPHAN RELIEF
The Executive Director is the key management leader of Lowcountry Orphan Relief. The director is responsible for overseeing the administration, and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties are fundraising and community outreach. This position reports directly to the Board of Directors.
The Executive Director must follow the Mission and Vision of LOR and gain the
trust and loyalty of the staff. LOR expects the Director to be a team player and
be able to lead and not manage those employed with LOR.
LOR expects the Director to have warm and dynamic speaking skills and be able to associate with all levels of individuals from surrounding companies and supporters. This position requires that 50% of their time should be going into the
community to raise financial support, new donors, businesses as sponsors throughout the year. It requires that one should work hand in hand with the Marketing Director and be able to cross-train on a continual basis in order that the Marketing Director be trained and skilled in being able to support and take over the Directorship upon the absence or vacation of the Director.
The Executive Director must have a working knowledge of Non-Profit finances
and be able to prepare a yearly budget, a yearly Annual Report to the Public, and work closely with the Bookkeeper. Be responsible for donation receipts and for all checks, and deposits. Provides all necessary information to the CPA annually and maintains employee files, vacation schedules and all financial records and files.
Oversee the website and promotional materials in order to keep them up to date and see that all material is legally and professionally done and correct.
Serve as the internal leader and support to the staff with an Open Door Policy.
Responsible for the hiring and termination of employees. Conduct bi-weekly staff meetings and take the minutes of this meeting to be filed. They must provide a performance review every six months of the employees and keep records of each employee’s review.
They are responsible for planning the 3 year and 5 year goals of the company
And monitor the goals and success of each employee and themselves.The Director will be given a performance review bi-yearly by the Human Resources Committee and goals must be submitted to the Board yearly.
The goal of the Executive Director is to always focus on serving more children
throughout the State of S.C. and not trying to create programs, change policies,
or cause the basic mission of LOR to be changed.
The Director should attend all speaking engagements unless either the Marketing Director or Children’s Events Director is entitled to go. They must attend evening events when held. They are to create all Annual Appeal Letters, Christmas letters and set up the Agenda to the Board.
Be knowledgeable of the Employee’s Handbook and the By-Laws and adhere
to all state and government laws and procedures. Be responsible for getting the appropriate insurance for the staff and for all events and all property of LOR.
LOR is known for its outstanding reputation, it’s financial status and competency
and for displaying the highest of morale and values to the public. Professional dress and conduct should be above reproach and their language and attitude should be a standard for the staff and volunteers.
Job Types: Full-time, Contract
Pay: $60,000.00 per year
8 hour shift
Monday to Friday
