Malin Space Science Systems (MSSS) is a private technology company that designs, develops and operates space camera systems. We are currently seeking a Facilities Engineer to become a part of our innovative team. The Facilities Engineer is responsible for planning, implementing, and maintaining the infrastructure and equipment of the building and facility.
Essential Functions

Manages Facilities Assistants, providing oversight and guidance on their daily tasking and service requests.
Works to root cause and corrective action for all facility systems issues to prevent reoccurrence, which includes HVAC, cleanroom air filtration, humidity control, and environmental test systems.
Manages corporate safety program and monitors safety and cleanliness of interior and exterior areas, such as offices, labs, the machine shop, parking lots and outdoor spaces.
Manages the maintenance of ESD, cleanroom, and safety garments and personal protective equipment.
Manages facilities budget and assesses/approves purchases and authorizes service estimates and contracts provided by vendors.
Ensures emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
Manages the safe collection, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials.
Performs analyses of operational processes, recommends and implements maintenance, mechanical, electrical and facility improvements.
Participates in designing, optimizing, and maintenance of lab facilities infrastructure.
Interfaces with leadership, landlord, vendors, inspectors, contractors, consultants and engineers to execute facility needs, projects and changes.
Reviews and approves all technical documentation such as building layouts, diagrams, equipment layouts, installation details, schedules, and budgets to ensure that they meet requirements.
Resolves technical equipment issues. Coordinates with engineering manager to upgrade equipment to peak operational performance. Works with facilities assistants and vendors to repair equipment during breakdowns and upgrades.
Coordinates preventative and routine maintenance programs while tracking compliance and effectiveness of these programs.

Non-Essential Functions

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, professional certifications, or equivalent professional level of experience
5-10 years in engineering and facilities maintenance or equivalent related functions
Experience with lab and clean room infrastructure which contain high-voltage power systems, power distribution, nitrogen tanks, mechanical systems, compressed and cryogenic gases, fan filter systems, plumbing and air handling of hazardous chemicals/gases.
Experience working on data center facilities, which contain generators, chillers, cooling towers, air handling units, UPS, electrical sub distribution systems, fire detection and suppression systems, cable reticulation systems
Previous HVAC system support and specification, and knowledge of preventive maintenance and operator-level or autonomous maintenance required
Knowledge of OSHA and other environmental regulations
Must be able to perform work subject to ITAR regulations and/or program requirements
Experience managing suppliers and identifying and installing new equipment
Ability to work independently with limited direction

Physical RequirementsMust be able to comprehend and communicate complex technical and engineering concepts with staff and vendors. Ability to work and move around in an office, lab and cleanroom environment, wearing required outer garments including smock/coveralls, shoe covers, mask, hood and gloves.Constantly positions self to monitor equipment and systems in facility. Must be able to detect potential work hazards in and around the office space. Occasionally works in outdoor weather conditions. Must be able to remain in a stationary position while operating a computer for periods of time. Ability to handle high stress levels in connection with multiple conflicting priorities and deadlines. High tolerance for ambiguity and shifting expectations with strong analytical and organizational skills to prioritize workload.
