Position: IT Writer / Communications Specialist
Location: Remote
Duration: 3 Months Contract
Both on W2 and C2C
Description- Remote IT Writer and Communications SpecialistInformation Technology Services (ITS) is looking for an IT Writer and Communications Specialist, who will help support Clients digital transformation. ITS is aligning itself and its strategic goals to play a pivotal role in helping the Client move beyond the pandemic and realize its vision as a global, digital Client. A cloud-first approach is a driving force that will empower members of the Client community to exchange knowledge, communicate, and collaborate across boundaries and networks, at Clients locations and around the globe.Reporting to the ITS Communications Operations Lead, the IT Writer and Communications Specialist will support the ITS Communications team in engaging with Client stakeholders about the value of IT services and solutions.The successful candidate will have a proven track record of planning and executing both strategic and tactical marketing and communications effectively and in a fast-paced and sometimes uncertain environment. The candidate can create and collaborate on strong, strategic copy and assets that are compelling and on brand, and will have demonstrated excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities may include:

Designing and implementing goal-driven, user-focused communication plans that leverage digital, modern communications methods where necessary to deliver engaging content.
Writing and editing relevant and compelling copy for web, email, digital, print, user interfaces, and other mediums, ensuring the content is informational, educational, or, where appropriate, driving audience to take action.
Driving engagement with key stakeholders through campaigns, newsletters, events, training, and other marketing and communications efforts.
Striving for continuous quality improvement and counseling unit leaders when new opportunities to enhance processes or project communications arise.
Helping plan and coordinate event logistics to deliver delightful and first-class customer experiences.
Contributing to unit and project team creative and strategic direction and implementation.
Collaborating with project teams, IT colleagues, vendors, campus-wide partners, and other stakeholders.
Performing administrative tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

5-7 years of experience in the marketing or communications fields, preferably in a higher education or technology environment
Exceptional written communication skills
Able to pick up technical concepts quickly
Strong internal and external customer facing communication skills
Responsible self-starter with a sense of urgency, balanced by attention to detail
Comfortable with change, organizational and process evolution within a fast-paced environment.
Familiarity with WordPress or similar web content management system
Excellent critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
Proficient in Microsoft applications; Word, Sharepoint, Excel, Teams, and Outlook – including use of collaborative tools within each, such as tracked-changes, document sharing, and formatting.
Familiarity with and willingness to leverage and support collaborative and agile project tracking processes.

A Day in the RoleA sample of approximately what to expect in this role-9 a.m. Sign-on to Microsoft Teams, report out tasks for the day over ITS Communications Teams Daily Standup chat9:15 -9:30 a.m. Attend morning ITS Team Standup in Teams9:30 – 10 a.m. Create first draft of essential reactive messaging10 – 10:30 a.m. Attend Project meeting, present and collect feedback from stakeholders on Communications plan10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Apply feedback to Project communications plan, work collaboratively with ITS Communications to refine copy12 -12:30 p.m. Leverage ITS Communications Listserv to send out approved messaging to Faculty and Staff12:30 – 1:00 p.m. Attend Stakeholder meeting to collect insights for blog post copy1 – 1:30 p.m. Create and share blog post for review1:30 – 5 p.m. Review, edit, and provide feedback on ITS Communications copy/projects, complete outstanding tasks for the day
Requirements:

40 hours/week, primarily 9-5 p.m. EST.

o Occasionally, additional work may include some hours outside of normal business hours as necessary to support ITS services and activities may be requested. * Daily, and prompt, attendance and contribution to scheduled standup and project meetings as well as completion of associated tasks.
