POSITION SCOPE
This position will play a pivotal role in creating content that contributes to the growth of key digital productsincluding GoComics.com and PuzzleSociety.comand is part of these products overall content strategies. This position reports into the Lead Content Strategist.
The Junior Content Strategist is a creator: they will create high-quality articles, Q&As, videos, comic collections, newsletters; and will implement the products organic social media strategiesincluding target audience identification, copywriting, design, placement, optimization, and measurement. The ideal candidate is a smart, quick, and adept writer who can quickly adapt to each sites distinct voice and tone. Responsibilities will also include reporting on key metrics, analyzing and interpreting trends, and providing actionable insights based on available analytics data.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
Writing:
Deeply understand and maintain unified brand voice for each priority digital product
Closely follow the comics and puzzles industries (via newsletters, social media, other departments at AMU, etc) and develop relationships with creators to brainstorm and pitch multiple content ideas weekly
Write and produce in our CMS at least one piece of original written content per week for GoComics.com (once new site has launched)
Produce in our CMS at least one comic collection per week on GoComics that showcases our breadth of features
Optimize all content for organic search; execute smart keyword research using Google Search Console, Google Trends, and SEM Rush
Social Media:
Create, curate, and measure engaging written, video, and/or visual content for social media platforms for priority digital products, including GoComics (current) and Puzzle Society (in the near future)
Use social monitoring and listening tools to identify key influencers, marketing, and/or PR contacts; develop relationships and partnerships; and spot social trends for opportunistic campaigns
Interact with users and respond to social media messages, inquiries, and comments; identify and escalate or address any critical community concerns
Review analytics, analyze and interpret effectiveness, and provide actionable insights based on available analytics data
Newsletter:
Schedule, write, and produce two weekly newsletters in Hubspot (one for GoComics; one for Puzzle Society)
Interpret newsletter and content analytics, and tweak strateg(ies) and content selection based on data
ESSENTIAL SKILLS
Experience with content management systems, like WordPress, Strapi, Ruby on Rails
Experience with marketing and/or email platforms, like Hubspot, Constant Contact, or Mailchimp
Proficiency with social media management/listening tools like Hootsuite or Falcon
Passion for social media and proficiency with major social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and TikTok (optional: Twitch, Snapchat, others)
Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud (Photoshop, InDesign, Premier Pro) or equivalent video and photo editing tools is a plus
Experience with SEO; familiarity with Google Search Console and/or SEM Rush is a plus
Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Top-notch oral and verbal communication skills
Impeccable time management skills with the ability to multitask
Detail-oriented approach with ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
Ability to effectively communicate cross-functionally, tailoring communication style to audience
Experience with and ability to interpret site analytics tools such as Google Analytics 360
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelors Degree in journalism, English, communications, or related field, or experience in lieu of degree
3+ years experience in journalism, writing, content strategy, or copywriting for digital experiences
Must be able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment
Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook)
