General Description: To provide a clean, well-maintained facility in support of the teaching and administrative functions of the campus. To make the campus as safe and pleasing to the eye as possible. This includes ensuring that the land is maintained at the highest level by using good horticultural principles and practices. Trash, ice, and snow are removed promptly and thoroughly to provide a safe environment for the campus population.
Duties and Tasks: Perform Grounds Maintenance and landscaping. In absence of Grounds Supervisor produce and submit reports related to scheduling, ongoing projects and equipment status, supervise grounds staff, community service workers, and contractors. Operate equipment. Perform routine maintenance and preventative maintenance on grounds equipment. Assist trades staff and perform snow removal. Notifies Facility Manager of all actions & ensures that all projects/tasks are completed when acting as the Grounds Supervisor. Responds to the needs of the Facility Manager & Campus community without hesitation and completes requests in a timely manner. Without direct supervision, tasks are completed in a timely manner. Performs Grounds Maintenance duties in a safe & professional manner at all times. Practices standard horticultural principles & practices at all times
Essential Functions: Perform Grounds Maintenance and landscaping. Maintain and operate equipment.
Marginal Functions: Assists B&G Trades staff with other duties. Performs snow removal.
Special Assignments
May be required to perform other duties as assigned. May be required to assist the agency or state government generally in the event of an emergency declaration by the Governor.
KSA’s/Required Qualifications
Required KSAs:
Skilled in operation and maintenance of vehicles and landscape equipment
Knowledge of horticultural and landscape principles and practices
Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more on an as needed basis
Minimum Qualifications:
High school graduate or equivalent
Valid driver’s license and good driving record
Some horticulture or landscape experience
Preferred Qualifications
Commercial Landscaping Experience
Pesticide Applicators License
Operation of a State Vehicle
