VISTA REAL PUBLIC CHARTER30 hours per week, Monday – Friday$7 9 , 5 00annualized (Clear credential)$6 8 , 9 00annualized (Prelim Credential)This Position serves as a Literacy Specialist Teacher for the READ 180 Program for grades 9-12th and creates a flexible program and environment favorable to learning and personal growth in accordance with each student’s ability. Instructs students in activities designed to promote literacy and reading growth needed for school success by performing the following duties.Responsibilities/Duties: ​Note, this list is illustrative only and is not intended to be a comprehensive list of tasks performed by this classification.Essential Functions: ​ A. InstructionDevelop and use instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with wide range of reading and writing skill levels.Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate studentsTeaches to the objective and uses a variety of techniques and materials.Focus and prepare students for instructionProvide for all students to be actively involved in a lessonMonitor student responses and adjusts instruction accordinglyUse reinforcement to influence positive behaviorProvide guidance and independent practiceApply appropriate closure in a lesson presentationMaintain, administer and utilize tests as an instructional toolEvaluate students’ work and communicate progressUse principles of learning, which promote memory and recallUse technology (computers and softwares) to enhance Program instruction B. Instructional ProcessWrite & implement approved long-range plans, which incorporate course curricular objectivesPrepare daily lesson plans which incorporates the grade level equivalents and standardsImplement plans to address the needs of individual students and/or small groups of students C. Organization and ManagementOrganize the classroom for efficient use of instructional timeOrganize information for logical presentationsKeeps student records/folders current and available for teacher, student or parent referenceConfer with teachers and administrators concerning programs and materials to meet student needs D. The Classroom ClimateCreate a physical environment conducive to learningCreate an emotional atmosphere conducive to learningMaintain classroom controlPromote development of self-control in students and positive independenceMaintain consistent regular student enrollment (minimum of 4 students per hour) E. OTHER DUTIESParticipate in staff trainings and meetingsAttend graduation ceremoniesAdhere to attendance policiesPerform other duties as assignedMinimum Physical Requirements: ​ Finger Dexterity; using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing, picking up small objects, or pinching fingers together.Talking; especially where one must convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately, loudly, or quickly.Average Hearing; able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.Average Visual Abilities; ordinary acuity necessary to prepare or inspect documents or operate machinery.Physical Strength; sedentary work. Sitting/standing most of the time.
