SCHEDULEMon-Fri between 8am-6pm (flexible work times)COMPENSATION$40,000 – $47,000 per yearGENERAL ROLE DESCRIPTIONThe Marketing Content Specialist creates, edits, proofs, and maintains content for all marketing initiatives. They are responsible for creating and maintaining a content calendar based on current trends and company goals. They will work with other departments and outside sources to create the necessary content. They will upload and promote the content on the company platforms including, but not limited to, the blog, guild, knowledge base, and social media . They are responsible to monitor the efficacy of the created content, present reports, and make recommendations and changes to either the promotion method or the content itself to increase lead generation or other marketing goals.RESPONSIBILITIESCompany Knowledge
Become knowledgeable of company history, mission, vision, values and products
Maintain knowledge as products are revised and/or new products are introduced
Collaborates with departmental members to continuously improve and make recommendations for department standards, processes, and systems related to marketing.
Plans and recommends own work priorities, scheduling, training, and education needs
Lends professional expertise to other departments
Participates in project teams, department and company-wide meetings and performs required tasks
Content Writing and Editing
Create, procure, or assemble-2-5 pieces of content per week based on the principles of They Ask, You Answer as well as current sales and market trends.
Work with and interview other departments, SMEs, and outside sources to gain the knowledge and insight necessary to create the finished content.
Research market trends and keywords then design content to perform well on search engines
Gain a deep understanding of our previously published content and crosslink where appropriate.
Recommend improvements to our existing content regarding the overall organization, illustration, flow, structure, and delivery of information for print and digital resources based on best practices in the field and company.
Edit and proofread print and digital content according to Chicago Manual of Style and out own internal style guides as part of the marketing process
Scheduling and Reporting
Create and maintain an Editorial content calendar based on the principles of “They Ask, You Answer” as well as current sales and market trends. Share the content calendar with other departments and stakeholders. Collaborate with other members of the marketing department to make sure the calendar is aligned with other marketing initiatives.
Create weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly reports showing the effectiveness of published content. Work with other departments to determine valuable data points and incorporate them into your report.
Review department processes and make recommendations to help ensure accuracy in content and timing for published advertising placements in print, online, and fair media outlets
Work with other departments, as needed, to create design elements that will increase effective communication. Examples: infographics, charts, graphs, and illustrations
Gain approval from appropriate stakeholders for drafts and final files of designated marketing materials
Upload vendor invoices to the finance department
Familiarity with WordPress
Add pages and content to the website to facilitate lead generation from published content.
Research and recommend additional website features and functionality as needed.
Deep understanding and continued education of social media best practices and new trends.
Promote new content on social media platforms and provide weekly reports on performance
Make recommendations and try new things to boost performance of content
Daily check emails and voicemails
Daily communicate with other team members
Effective and efficient scheduling of appointments
3-5 years experience in marketing, advertising, or related fields
Degree in related field a plus
Strong copywriting and proofreading skills
Willingness and ability to learn new software quickly
Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Suite
Demonstrable knowledge of English language conventions
Strong communication, project management, and organizational skills
Excellent attention to detail
Sound understanding of basic marketing principles
Ability to work effectively and meet tight deadlines under pressure
Ability to switch easily between tasks in fast-paced environment
Presentable, personable, and articulate to liaise with other departments and vendors
Ability to effectively organize and present information
Excellent interview skills
Creative and flexible problem solver
Ability to work remote 2-3 days a week
