Organization: Eighteenth Avenue Family Enrichment Center (EAFEC)
Job title: Nutrition Manager
Reports to: Program Directors (EHS & RTS)
Collaborates with: ALL STAFF
Supervises: N/A
FLSA Status: Hourly
Position Objective: The Nutrition Manager is responsible for managing the operations of the Food and Nutrition Department and staff. The Nutrition Manager is a healthcare leader. The Nutrition Manager manages the food service activities of the organization with specific responsibilities for preparing and/or serving food items to students and/or school personnel and maintains food service facilities in a safe and sanitary condition. The Nutrition Manager works with immediate supervision to provide information and/or advise others while operating within a defined budget. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization’s nutrition services.
Essential Functions: The following are indicative of the essential functions required to perform this job successfully. General Functions:

Has a system for serving food and beverage to students in an efficient manner.
Collects items to be processed for the purpose of recording, reporting and/or sending on to other personnel.
Processes orders for food items in collaboration with the Assistant Director and the Business Development Manager.
Inventories food, condiments, and supplies for the purpose of ensuring availability of items required for meeting projected menu requirements.
Maintains equipment, storage, food preparation and serving areas in a sanitary condition (e.g. cleaning and sanitizing steam tables, trays, counters, pots, pans, utensils, etc.) for the purpose of complying with current health standards and ensuring the safety of prepared foods.
Maintains stockroom (e.g. placing food and supply orders where they belong) for the purpose of ensuring a clean and safe work area.
Prepares and serves food and beverage items for the purpose of meeting mandated nutritional and projected meal requirements.
Reports equipment malfunctions for the purpose of notifying the supervisor of the need for repair and/or replacement.
Trains substitutes in their jobs for the purpose of ensuring an efficient, safe, and sanitary work environment.
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the organization.

*Educational Support:

Extends an invitation to students to get involved in the Nutrition Program of the organization.
Creates student panels to taste test new menu items.
Collaborate with the Event Coordinator and the Business Development Manager on PR campaigns to increase healthy eating.
Helps students feel invested in school meals with an invitation to participate.
Involves students and families in the Nutrition Program by informing, introducing, socializing, communicating, involving, interacting, interacting, captivating, connecting, responding, and appreciating. (School Nutrition Association)

Professional Development:

Attends and utilizes methodologies from multiple professional development opportunities a year in order to stay abreast of current trends and be a subject matter expert on early childhood education and health trends.
Participates in Nutrition Associations/Communities for the purpose of building a community of like-minded professionals to ensure innovation.
Monitors a professional portfolio to determine the best way to support personal professional development.

Qualifications:
Education:

H.S. Diploma with 3 years of culinary experience
Culinary Degree preferred

Pay: $13.50 – $15.00 per hour
