As Operational Excellence Champion, you will be accountable for overseeing a variety of transformational improvement initiatives within our manufacturing operations. More specifically, you will be responsible for collaborating with Lean Champions, Maintenance and Reliability Champions, and other functional groups to drive measurable, high-impact, and sustainable improvements throughout multiple Mineral Fiber manufacturing facilities.

What you’ll be doing

Driving transformational and high-impact operational improvements
Selecting and leading Kaizens and other lean activities that lead to statistically significant and sustainable improvements in productivity in scrap %, downtime %, throughput and cost
Leveraging manufacturing and lean methodology knowledge to identify and drive improvements that have a direct impact on KPIs
Developing and utilizing process maps, metrics, and control plans
Identifying, realizing, and tracking project benefits and driving sustainability of results across the network
Removing roadblocks to ensure project timelines are met
Developing and implementing measurement processes for improvement projects
Determining progress to targets and valuation of improvements
Supporting the achievement of operating plan results for full safety, quality, productivity, and cost
Execute follow up and regular touchpoints to ensure that improvements become embedded at the execution level
Assuming the role of coach, consultant, and driver of culture change pertaining to the implementation of management systems and introduction of new tools
Teaching Lean principles to all levels of the organization through the application of key tools and management systems (Line Balancing, Kaizen, 5S, TPM, SMED, Standard Work, Visual Management, SQDC boards, MDI, and more)
Collaborating with Organizational Leadership to identify Lean/Six Sigma Training needs
Developing and delivering training classes to meet Lean training needs

What will make you successful

A track record of success with designing and meeting KPI goals, including reducing costs, improving throughput, shortening cycle time, and reducing scrap
Demonstrated strong facilitation skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams
Capability to take complex concepts and communicate them simply and succinctly
Team-oriented mindset and history of leading both up and down in an organization

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related, OR equivalent experience
3+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment
3+ years of expertise in Lean, Six Sigma, and Process Improvement while driving Lean manufacturing initiatives within complex manufacturing facilities
Robust change management skills and experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Formal Lean training from an “academy” organization – either through direct consulting experience or via organizations with well-established lean operating systems
Lean or Six Sigma certified through an accredited entity
Personal experience in leading Kaizen events
Lean and/or Six Sigma certifications
