Clemson University invites applications for a Project Manager in the Office of Human Resources (OHR). This position is responsible to manage the alignment and execution of key projects, initiatives, and continuous improvement processes within the HR function. The Project Manager will perform and direct full scope project management activities including creation or revision of related policies and supporting documentation.
What can you expect from working as the Project Manager in the Office of Human Resources?
Lead the full project management life cycle of initiatives/projects to facilitate HR attainment of priorities/objectives/goals towards meeting HR strategic plans. Partner with HR leaders to address emergent project needs when changes to legal or University directives result in new or revised HR processes. Serve as the HR project manager and excellence coordinator to partner with the Finance and Operations (F&O) Division and Office of Institutional Excellence (IE) on larger scope projects as needed.
Create an environment that encourages continuous improvement. Provide consultation to HR leaders on operational efficiency and ensure improvements are implemented using Lean methodologies, tools and techniques. Develop and maintain departmental metrics to assess process and policy effectiveness and identify potential process improvements. In coordination with the Finance and Operations Excellence Lead, collaborate with the Operational Resilience Team to identify and mitigate operational risks within HR. Create/revise HR risk plans and business continuity plans and recommend strategies or tactics to identify, monitor, mitigate or manage HR risks.
With the support of the Office of IE and in collaboration with the Finance and Operations Division Strategic Project Manager and under the direction of Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), facilitate the development of strategic HR plans in alignment with the F&O and University’s strategic plan. Assist HR directors to set targets, track and monitor those plans to drive results. Assess, report, and recommend when to adjust initiatives or tactics to move the department forward. Collaborate with the CHRO and F&O leaders to report on strategic progress.
In collaboration with and following the guidelines of the Office of University Compliance and Ethics, examine the efficacy of existing HR policies and lay the groundwork for new policies to support HR programs and legislation changes. Draft, review and amend HR policy. Help to examine the impacts of new and existing policies. Document the HR policy process and ensure appropriate stakeholder engagement throughout policy development. Partner with and/or direct the activities of the HR communication lead to issue communications (article, emails, website) for effective policy deployment, adoption and alignment.

The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree and relevant project management experience.
A degree in Business, Human Resources or equivalent with a minimum of three years of relevant experience is preferred. Preferably, the candidate has a Master’s degree in Business, HR or related field, five plus years in Human Resources, and a PHR or SPHR certification. Lean certification or experience also is highly preferred, but may be earned after hired.
The successful candidate also will have demonstrated capabilities in influencing, communication (both written and oral), problem solving, collaboration, facilitating change, and planning and organizing work.

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Expected Salary Range ( $50,833.00 – $94,000.00 )
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 1 employee Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University’s initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
