Senior Content Designer

Do you want to use your content design skills to tell stories, enable conversations and help people go places? Are you an innovator who thinks outside of the box to craft novel, globally scalable solutions that captivates your audience?

At Expedia Group, our mission is to power global travel for everyone, everywhere. As a Senior Content Designer on our Conversational Design and Virtual Agent team, you’ll help us achieve that mission by bringing clarity, consistency, usability, and delight to our voice, chat, and conversational experiences.

You’re perfect for this role if you’re a blend of storyteller, conversation designer, and content designer. You put the customer first, and use data, empathy, and logic to drive content decisions. As part of our team, you’ll partner across disciplines to co-create simple, intuitive, useful, and cohesive product experiences and narratives that are context-aware, human, and delightful. You’ll define content (for user interfaces, chat bots, voice, email, and more) for end-to-end customer journeys that helps users get the right information at the right time. You’ll solve for the presentation of product content in the experience, as well as the structure that delivers that product content.

What you’ll do:

Reporting into our centralized Content Design practice, Senior Content Designers drive the content strategy and the approach to content design within large and complex areas of the Expedia product (Web and app) ecosystem. As members of our XD community, they exemplify sound practices in human-centered content strategy and design. (We’re looking for team members who can lead by example!) And while no two days in the role are identical, your main responsibilities as a Senior Content Designer will look something like this:

Design thoughtful, intuitive content solutions for a range of product use cases and interactions — from today’s chat and voice experiences to tomorrow’s conversational flows.
Apply human-centered practices and solid information architecture methods (e.g., modeling, mapping) in your work.
Apply sophisticated concepts around UI frameworks, modularity, localization, reuse, and related concepts to craft content solutions that scale.
Stage and contribute to workshops that help others develop content-strategy knowledge and acuity, both within and across teams.
Partner across product and research teams to drive content tests that measurably improve the customer experience; and identify, log, prioritize, and resolve content bugs across the portfolio.
Contribute frameworks, methods, critique, and knowledge that raise the bar for junior team members and help to advance our content practice.
Exhibit storytelling and persuasive techniques that build trust and establish long-term relationships with teams and partners.

Who you are:

We realize that content strategy and content design are constantly evolving, and we know that no two people enter this field through the same path. So we’re not expecting you to be a specialist in everything listed here, but we do ask that you demonstrate expertise commensurate with the job level in whichever methods you apply. We’re also looking for people who will contribute frameworks to our growing team and our design system, so we’re excited to see how you scale your thinking!

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience, as well as experience in core skills such as UX Writing, Content Audits and Analysis, Content Mapping and Modeling, Content Planning and Sourcing, Conversational Design, Information Architecture, and Storytelling. (This is not a content marketing role.)
Able to audit, analyze, structure, create, and present content independently using established frameworks for conversation design.
Understanding of human-centered design (HCD) practices.
A thoughtful, empathetic, and inclusive approach to content design that meets every user where they are.
Exposure to working on content problems across systems and brands.
Strong skills in facilitation and presentation, and the ability to communicate compelling rationale and narratives to your team and partners.
A passion for travel and for our mission.
A portfolio of work that demonstrates your skills. We’re especially interested in seeing examples of work you’ve done for Android and iOS apps, and if you have experience working in a platform or two-sided marketplace, it’s a definite plus!

At Expedia Group, we believe in bringing people together and creating an inclusive workplace where everyone belongs and can do their best work. We care about our employees’ safety and wellbeing, so we’re requiring new hires in the U.S. to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and present acceptable proof of vaccination before their start date as a condition of employment. Expedia Group will consider requests for a reasonable accommodation as required under applicable law.
