Do you believe in creating positive change through social media and storytelling? If you would love creative, strategic storytelling work in an award-winning marketing communications team, and desire a position in a company that offers flexibility, an excellent benefits package and a high level of visibility, the Chattanooga Chamber of Commerce is searching for you to become our next social media and PR specialist.
Creative work includes writing and developing content for social media and websites, including: ChattanoogaTREND.com, ChattanoogaChamber.com, and GreaterChatt.com. You will also work on national, regional, and local public relations, including developing ideas for long-term storytelling strategies.
In this position, you will share the story of Chattanooga, Tennessee, a city of creators located on the border of Tennessee and Georgia. Chattanooga offers a high quality of life and is centrally located within easy driving range of Atlanta, Georgia; Huntsville, Alabama; and Nashville and Knoxville in Tennessee.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the Chamber’s chief storyteller on social platforms including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn and Twitter
Research and recommend a steady stream of ideas to support long-term social media strategies
Plan digital, social, and paid media strategies to amplify earned and owned media efforts, including editing the Chattanooga Chamber’s social media calendar
Develop content for stories that will be pitched to regional, local, and national media, including working with media at Chattanooga Chamber events
Contribute to writing, planning, editing, and proofing online and e-mail publications including ChattanoogaTREND.com, the Chattanooga Chamber’s online magazine
Assist in creating digital and print communications, including e-mails, website content, the Chattanooga Chamber’s twice-a-month e-newsletter, BottomLines
Assist in research and preparation of talking points, articles, letters, and other communication for the Chattanooga Chamber President and CEO
Assist in the creation of digital content, such as podcasts, videos, and blogs; plan and conduct interviews, and as-needed, serve as on-camera talent
Work with interns and volunteers tasked with handling communications items
Basic design and special projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communications or related field
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in marketing, PR and social media or an equivalent combination of education and experience including internships
Strong writing, editing, and content production skills
In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
Some experience with public relations, crisis communications, and strategic PR planning
Adobe Creative Cloud, including Photoshop or Lightroom, InDesign, Premiere Pro
Other Helpful Experience:
Constant Contact, WordPress, Google Analytics, and understanding of search engine optimization (SEO)
Podcast editing/production
Photography and some light graphic design
