The ideal candidate will have strong writing and editing skills, initiative and ownership of a story, a keen ear for audio and an ability to thrive in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment. If you have a nose for news and penchant for perfectly placed punctuation, this may be the fit for you!Working with staff, leadership, and content experts, the Staff Writer writes oncology nursing-focused articles for the monthly news magazine, news website, and electronic newsletters. The writer also produces or helps produce weekly podcast episodes. Also writes creative copy for marketing materials and edits work from other departments for accuracy in terms of content, style, usage, and voice.Remote opportunity – This is a full-time remote (work from home) position.Responsibilities
Identifies and writes content for the news magazine and other assigned publications, helps post content to the news website, and helps produce weekly e-newsletters.
Helps develop, record, edit and launch podcast episodes.
Writes assigned creative copy for the marketing department to help build awareness of various ONS events, products, and resources.
Assists marketing staff with writing content for marketing campaigns, and edits their work for accuracy in terms of content, style, usage, and voice.
Assists other departments and volunteer leaders with writing and editing needs, including special assignments related to current events, late-breaking news, press releases, and grant writing.
Assists with news magazine design and layout.
Qualifications and SkillsBachelor’s degree, preferably in Journalism, English, Communications, or Marketing; 1-2 years of experience in developing news and marketing communications or writing content in a similar environment; experience developing podcast episodes and editing audio content; and an understanding of social media and SEO/SEM are required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.Be a part of our organizationWith a mission that is truly meaningful and makes a difference in people’s lives, you’ll find ONS to be a special place to work.
