Procurement Services – A department within the Finance and Administration Division seeks applications for the position of Supplier Diversity Manager. This position is responsible for managing and supporting the University’s Supplier Diversity program and activities: supplier relationship management, outreach coordination, data management, certification verification, diverse participation monitoring and reporting and to deliver results that have a direct impact on the University’s commitment to foster public value and support building healthy economies through sourcing with diverse businesses in the communities where our faculty, staff, students, and alumni live and work.

Manages the administrative, financial, and compliance activities for the Supplier Diversity Program and serves as the primary contact. Designs and conducts extensive outreach activities to recruit and retain certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE). Actively engages and works directly with stakeholders across the University and in the local business community to create equitable access to meaningful business opportunities to (SMV/WBE). This engagement includes assisting University departments and academic units in understanding the University’s commitment to support certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) utilization, and identify and assist Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) in conducting business with the University.
Interprets procurement policy and provides technical assistance to departments, contractors, and certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) to ensure a competent pool of diverse vendors to address the university’s annual procurement needs, goals and objectives. Coordinates with Procurement Services staff and certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) to satisfy and facilitate contract requirements. Conducts pre-solicitation meetings, convenes contract evaluation committees and other sourcing project teams to ensure certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) participation.
Provides recommendations to the CPO in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and participation goals for the University’s Supplier Diversity program relating to the procurement of contracts for goods, services, materials, professional services, and construction. Monitors the delivery of the Supplier Diversity program efforts and specific outreach events to maintain or improve quality. Compiles data to analyze the effectiveness of the Supplier Diversity program against stated goals. Prepares annual budget and program goals and provides periodic updates. Develops and prepares quarterly and annual reports on SMV/WBE activities.
Effectively communicates and educates stakeholders across the University and in the local business community on how to utilize certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) in the contracting processes. Provides training to campus departments and certified Small, Minority, Veteran and Women Owned Business Enterprises (SMV/WBE) on commodity or service-related procurement topics. Has an educational role when participating in workshops, presentations and trade fairs designed to introduce small businesses to university buyers and purchasers. This includes updating and maintaining the information on the University’s website.
Bachelor’s degree and four years experience or a combination of post high school education and experience equal to eight years.
Experience in working with diverse supplier networks and managing complex supplier relationships
Experience designing diverse supplier engagement strategies, identifying qualified diverse suppliers and networks, integrating supplier diversity best practices across university and leading diverse supplier business programs; and
Experience in working with university stakeholders to encourage, develop and implement supplier diversity targets and goals
Prefer candidates who have proven track record in business advocacy and development; exceptionally strong written/verbal communication skills; proven track record of results versus commitments; demonstrated ability to work independently and produce results with minimum direction; the ability to exercise creative and critical thinking in evaluating situations and developing solutions; to use internal and external resources to independently develop solutions considering customer’s capabilities and limitations; to facilitate stake-holder sessions to achieve consensus and collaboration; to synthesize information into succinct, concise and logical summaries and reports.
Strong interpersonal skills, high degree of presentation skills.
Familiarity with programs focusing on building a diverse and inclusive supplier base

What can I expect in the first 60-90 days?
Candidates first few weeks will be getting up to speed on all things related to Procurement – our policies and procedures. Candidate will also spend time analyzing current state of diversity supplier program to assist in planning its future state. There will be on the job training, but candidate will bring his/her previous experience and skills.

Anticipated Salary Range
The annual salary range is $48,000-$55,000. Actual salary will commensurate with qualifications and experience.
This is an A&P (Administrative and Professional) position.
