Overview:

Under the direction of the Development Communications Manager, this position is responsible for developing a proactive environment of donor giving for the overall support of the AltaMed by providing critical writing & editorial support. Responsible for writing and editing all gift acknowledgements, stewardship messages, and recognition messages. Serves as the department point person in writing and editing all gift acknowledgments from $1,000+. Projects may include, but are not limited to: writing digital and print letters to donors, writing gift receipt verbiage, pledge reminders, and welcome packages. Responsible for project management of the endowment reporting process. May write, edit, and proofread endowment report narratives, templates, change letters, and other content. Writes and edits the stewardship and recognition messages sent on an ongoing basis on behalf of the President and Development Officers. Writes and edits event follow-up messages on an ongoing basis on behalf of team. Assists the Donor Relations Manager and Donor Relations Coordinator in implementing high ROI donor relations programs. Maintains prospect and donor data at the highest level of confidentiality. Maintains frequent communication and contact with prospects, donors, executives and leaders in the community. Designs and manages new donor and all giving society essentials. Oversees donor marketing and communication needs via collaboration to promote donor engagement and largess, provide needed website content around donor stories, manage donor nominations, and manage awards and recognition task force/submissions. Coordinates donor publicity with campaign communications. The Donor Relations Writer collaborates with consultants and contractors to ensure all Development activities are implemented within deadline and at a high level of quality. This person also analyzes the process workflows, and when appropriate, develops strategies to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of their principal responsibilities.
Responsibilities:

Manage internal resources (including other departments), vendors and consultant for flawless execution of projects.
Research, gather and write content, review, edit and produce communications and receive approval for external donor-focused vehicles including enewsletter, Journal and solicitations.
Ensure that all projects are delivered on time, within scope and within budget.
Project manage and execute campaigns and day-to-day activities including:

Develop relevant content topics to reach the Foundation’s target audience.
Create, curate and manage all published content (images, video and written).
Monitor, listen and respond to users while retaining donors.
Analyze key metrics and tweak strategy as needed.

Drive multiple projects to execution. Provide direction and oversight throughout the project lifecycle to project team to meet applicable project goals.
Creates new standardized language for gift acknowledgment to reflect changes in fundraising objectives and respond to high-profile issues.
Provides partnership to fundraisers to refine strategies for donor retention; manages communications projects from inception to delivery; helps to ensure consistent messaging.
Develops strategic philanthropic messaging; creates and distributes high-level standardized language.
Manage execution of communication with high dollar donors.
Revise processes and procedures as needed to improve efficiency and work flow.
Serve as a proofreader/editor for materials.
Perform all other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree, preferably in English, marketing, or liberal arts field coupled with a minimum of three years of nonprofit organization experience writing.
Proven project management skills. Ability to keep deadlines, meet milestones and manage necessary resources.
Experience writing about healthcare and medical topics
Bilingual English/Spanish desirable.
Familiarity with non-profit online fundraising and CRM software, such as Raiser’s Edge or other platforms a plus.
